AFTERCARE

AFTERCARE

WHAT YOU DO AND DON’T DO AFTER YOUR LASER TREATMENT WILL HAVE AN EFFECT ON YOUR HEALTH AND RESULTS. PLEASE FOLLOW THE RECOMMENDED AFTERCARE PROTOCOL TO PREVENT UNWANTED SIDE EFFECTS AND ENSURE THE BEST RESULTS.

AFTERCARE BASICS

Aftercare is a very important part of the laser process.

Immediately after the laser treatment the area may feel warm, red and/or raised or swollen.

An ice compress applied to the tattoo on and off every 3 to 5 minutes in the first couple hours post treatment will aid in managing swelling and discomfort

Over the following few days, you may notice blisters, broken capillaries and bruising.

Ensure you are keeping your laser treated tattoo clean with a gentle antibacterial soap twice a day – be mindful of water temperature as your tattoo will be sensitive

Blisters larger than the size of a pea and actively gaining in size and pressure should be gently popped with a sterilized pin or lancet to avoid scarring and treating any broken skin with a light application of an antibiotic ointment

Avoid products that are scented or exfoliating as this will cause irritation

Dry and itchy skin may be treated with a clear aloe vera, organic unrefined coconut oil or an unscented lotion.

Make sure your tattoo is covered with a sterile nonstick bandage if you have broken skin while at work, gym or anywhere the tattoo will be exposed to germs, dust/debris.

Your tattoo will be sensitive to the sun and should not be exposed to the sun while there is any irritation still present from your laser treatment. Your tattoo should be protected with a mineral sunblock.

Drinking plenty of water helps produce lymph in the body which circulates your white blood cells and hyrdrates the body ensuring our organs and immune systems are working to the best of their ability!

Exercise encourages blood circulation and is helpful in aiding the removal process. However, please allow 48 hours post treatment before generating excess heat in the body with intense cardio, saunas or steam rooms – avoid chlorinated pools and saunas in the presence of broken skin.

Cigarette smoking restricts your capillaries and can reduce the effectiveness of the process
